Mercedes Benz provides full details for BlueZERO concept family

>> Sunday, January 11, 2009

Though most of the world associates green with environmentally-friendly technologies, Mercedes Benz and a few others use the color blue to denote their ecologically advanced vehicles and drivetrains. The latest development in the blue-themed line of Mercedes offerings is a trio of BlueZERO electric vehicle concepts being presented at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The concepts are called the E-Cell, F-Cell and E-Cell Plus, all of which offer slightly different takes on the electric vehicle concept but feature the same exterior design and overall 13.85ft (4.22m) length. The E-Cell uses a pure-ev design, with lithium-ion batteries and electric motors doing all of the work.

Mercedes unveils CLS Grand Edition fashion car

>> Wednesday, January 7, 2009

The four-door coupe segment is rapidly growing, but the modern progenitor of the niche, Mercedes-Benz's CLS, is still powering along. Today the company released an all-new special edition of the CLS dubbed the Grand Edition. Mercedes' obsession with tying cars to fashion finds another outlet in the CLS Grand Edition. Presented by Mercedes model and brand representative Julia Stegner to help cement the car's tie-in to the accessory-rich world of design and style, the CLS Grand Edition is mechanically unchanged from the standard edition, instead relying on styling and materials to differentiate it from the pack. One of the most immediately noticeable features of the CLS Grand Edition is the matte platinum paint.

Now we have what appear to be new official photos of the 2010 Mercedes E-Class. The main differences at first glance include the design of the new grille and headlights. The next E-Class is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show before going on sale later this year as a 2010 model.

Mercedes' SL65 AMG Black Series takes its first dyno runs

>> Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Buyers of the 2010 Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series coupe will be happy to know they are getting what they paid for, as Automobile has proved with its hands-on dynamometer testing of the car. Generating 573hp and 682lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, the car's big V12 will still have its work cut out for it when drivers start aiming for the claimed 3.9 second 0-60mph (96km/h) time. By way of comparison, the Corvette ZR-1 weighs about 700lb (320kg) less than the SL65 AMG Black Series yet generates very close to the same amount of crank horsepower: 638hp (476kW) for the 'Vette, versus 651hp (485kW) for the Mercedes.
